to market inside-out. At some point in my life I decided to bring these two passions together
and I translated 23 computer science books. This is when my translation career started.

Currently almost all quality assessments of my work conducted by independent linguists result
in a 100/100 score (I'll be happy to show you my full references.) This is why once in a while
I'm being asked by translation agencies to rate the quality of work of other translators.

What are the payment terms ?

I sign contracts only with companies. Each client is issued a standard European VAT invoice.
For the first 3 orders I'm asking for a 30% deposit. Large tasks are divided into monthly settlement periods. If you decide to pay the whole amount in advance, you'll get a 5% discount.

How to choose a (good) translator?

1) Decide what is most important for you. Low price, a killer deadline or quality? These three factors are mutually exclusive.

2) Determine whether you're looking for a translator who accepts jobs from every field or
a professional who specializes in one or two areas.

3) Think about the purpose of the translated text. How important is its quality? Is it just
a private letter in which a few occasional errors are acceptable or maybe a website promoting your new product, or an instruction manual which will be read by thousands of your clients?

4) Determine what skills and knowledge the translator has to possess to be able to cope with your text. There is no universal translator. Specialist knowledge from a given field is a must.

5) Decide on what basis you are going to assess the potential candidates. You can ask them for
a reference list with names and phone numbers (because only such a list can be verified by you.)
You can also ask whether the translator will agree to prepare a free test translation for you
(a short paragraph or two, up to 250 words.)
No seasoned translator should object to that and you will gain the possibility to turn down those candidates who do understand the original but can't turn it into a highly readable Polish text.
